here is the problem with simply calling this white feminism. the above is where most feminist start. any collection of these will be the starting point for most people who call themselves “feminist” because they all begin with mainstream feminism which is everything above.

all these people replying with “no. this is not feminism. feminism is intersectional” don’t know their history. don’t know that feminism at it’s roots always ignored black women, for instance, and it was always up to black women to inject intersectionalism into it or just create their own movement. going all the way back to the days of susan b anthony. all the way back. why the flying fuck do you think black women started womanism? if feminism was intersectional from jump, why was womanism started? why was the national black feminist organization started in the 70s? because black women didn’t have shit to do? why then did alice walker, audre lorde, angela davis and more speak on how feminism (NOT white feminism but feminism) ignore racial issues and the unique concerns of black women? because they were bored? 

the truth is that most of these black women are married to the word “feminism” and would rather hold on to that than admit that feminism doesn’t care about them. it’s a word that easy, everyone knows it and there’s a certain shine and glitter on it that make it impossible for them to turn their back on it for something that actually addresses their needs. for something that IS actually intersectional at its core. at its roots. maybe it is the proximity to whiteness that word affords? 

all i know if that these people are talking about feminism like it’s just intersectional like the sun is just hot. it’s not. it’s been proven over and over and over and over and over again. once you start talking about intersectional feminism, you are no longer talking about feminism. you are now talking about black feminism/womanism. let your love for that white focused creation die already.

it is black women and other women of color who brought intersectionalism to feminism. you can’t just give credit to someone or something for something that was brought to it by another. that’s like a historically segregated school finally accepting black and poc students after years of protest by black and poc people; then someone comes and talks like the school was always integrated, a complete lie and a lie that completely washes away the work, the toil, the struggle of those black and poc citizens who pushed the school to integrate. that’s some serious fuckery and feminism does this everyday to black women and other woc. feminism is by default exclusive NOT inclusive. it is by default racist NOT tolerant. when feminism is being racist as fuck, it’s not being some abnormal version of itself and it’s not being “white.” it’s being its true self. the self that made black women march in the back of the procession. the self that regularly called black people “animals” and “savages.” the self that said “white supremacy will be strengthened by suffrage.” the self that dismissed ida b wells, anna j cooper and other black women also seeking gender equality as no one important. the self that made anna j cooper say "only the BLACK WOMAN can say ‘when and where I enter, in the quiet, undisputed dignity of my womanhood, without violence and without suing or special patronage, then and there the whole Negro race enters with me.“ she said this in stark, loud opposition to the racism of susan b anthony and her lot during suffrage.  

stop with this fantasy that feminism is non-racist and non-fucked up to high heavens. everyday feminists prove otherwise.

then again i have to remember i’m dealing with mostly kids on this site so…

either way, you’ve been warned. i will expose feminism for the fuckery it is every chance i get. AND i will extol the virtues of womanism every chance i get. loudly and proudly.
